How Teak Wood Weathers
Teak wood furniture, when exposed outdoors, will develop a silver-gray patina over about nine months. This process is faster in moist climates and slower in dry ones, resulting in furniture with a timeless appeal.
During weathering, you may see small cracks or "checking" in the wood. This is natural and does not affect the furniture's strength. Checking is not covered by warranty.
The grain may lift on the edges of the arms and legs, but it will smooth out after the weathering process. Clean the furniture with a soft brush or sponge to help this along.
Water spots or discoloration may appear but will even out over time with regular cleaning.
Maintaining Golden-Brown Teak Color
To keep your teak furniture golden-brown, use our three-step Teak Cleaning & Care Products(e.g Teak Cleaner and Restorer, Teak Protector and Restorer, Teak Sealer).
This cosmetic treatment lasts about one season and can be reapplied as needed. Wait two weeks before applying the protector to new furniture.
Test the product on a small area first to ensure you like the results.
How Often to Apply Teak Protector
Apply the Teak Protector seasonally or when you see the teak changing color. It prevents the teak from turning silver-gray.
Winter Storage for Teak Furniture
Teak furniture can stay outside year-round. Use all-weather covers to extend its life. If storing, use a dry, unheated garage or garden shed.
